At the end of the season we head for our home port. Time to take bikers aboard who like to see the Low Lands of Belgium and Holland and go all the way to Amsterdam. Autumn is falling so the weather can be nice and sunny, but an occasional shower and wind has to be counted in. For the real bikers!
Daily average of 45 Km, completely flat, very easy to bike.

Saturday
Bruges – Aalterbrug. Arrival in the morning or early afternoon. Try out of the bikes, short ride to Damme to first stopover.
Sunday
Aalterbrug – Ghent. Easy biking in Flanders’ farmland and occasional patches of wood. Early arrival in the lively city Ghent, visit of St. Baafs cathedral and the Gravensteen castle.
Monday
Ghent – Middelburg. Sailing breakfast aboard the barge while leaving the industrial area of Ghent. Crossing the Westerschelde, the estuary of the river Scheldt that connects Antwerp with the Northsea. Biking on the southern islands of the Netherlands along the dikes and dunes, you can see water almost everywhere. Stopover in Middelburg, one of the major merchant cities of the 17th century. Still today clearly visible prosperous and picturesque town centre.
Tuesday
Middelburg – Zierikzee. Today you will see and bike along the Delta Works. Dikes, dams, bridges and polders as far as the eye can see. Visit of the museum commemorating the flooding of 1953, that killed so many people and was the direct reason to build the Delta Works.
Wednesday
Zierikzee – Willemstad. We will leave the “Isles of Zealand” and cross a large complex of locks before arriving in Willemstad. Old fortress to keep pirates out and collect taxes from the incoming shipping traffic.
Thursday
Willemstad – Vreeswijk or Vianen. Sailing breakfast to Dordrecht. From there we will bike to Kinderdijk, world famous for its 19 wind mills. You will be picked up by the barge along the river and sail on the meandering river to Vreeswijk.
Friday
Leaving our mooring by barge to the village of Breukelen (yes, Brooklyn!) with a ride along the scenic Vecht river to Amsterdam. Visit of the old town of Amsterdam.
Saturday
After breakfast the tour ends.
